My heart is with Ruben Ray Martinez’s family tonight. We have no idea how many people ICE has killed. Kristi Noem has been clear that they plan to kill more. In Congress, I will abolish ICE and ensure the killers face trial. Together we can stop this:

The only tools in the centrist toolbox are “tax breaks” and “whatever the Republicans said, but slightly less”. Neither of those can solve this problem where a hostile army is kidnapping people off the streets. Third Way’s cowardice got us here. Now it is time for courage.

I am never going to get over the fact thar so many Americans died that corpses stacked up in nursing homes and hospital morgues, that refrigerator trucks had to be brought in for the overflow, and that the big takeaway from Important Pundits is there should have been *less* mitigation.

It is crucial that Democrats read such things as they consider DHS funding. It is an affront to the entire idea of America. Operating like the secret police of the worst totalitarian societies. Unless it completely changes, funding it is an abdication of their Constitutional duty.

This is correct. They can pay TSA whenever they want! They have arrogated the authority to do that to themselves. If they don't want to fund TSA out of the big slush fund they passed, it's because they want to shut the airports down.

Someone has sure already made this observation but the fact they can convert all those empty warehouses into prison camps means they could have converted them into housing, community centers, job training centers or, hell, libraries or schools all along. It’s always a matter of will not resources.

THEY ARE BUYING UP WAREHOUSES TO HOLD HUMAN BEINGS IN DETENTION INDEFINITELY. I feel crazy at how everyone is acting like this is normal. These are concentration camps being built right before our eyes. These buildings are not meant to house human beings. People will be caged like cattle and die.

Part of the joy of books is sharing them. It’s not just a personal treat. It’s shared culture. You might read a book and, decades later, bond with someone because you both loved the same cultural artifact. Coverage of books in national media fuels that cultural conversation.

Until 9/11, you could cross into Canada from Detroit with a driver's license. You're supposed to show your birth certificate or passport, but 9 times out of 10, they'd wave you through. 9/11 and the Bush admin's "War on Terror" changed everything. Can't remember the last time I've been to Windsor.
