Extremely 👀 JMP showing that policy evaluation, including RCTs, has *zero* link to further spending on the policy. The exception is when evaluations are a) done fast and b) are owned by the party in power. The context is LatAm/Caribbean countries, but there’s lot’s here for us all to think about.

These two papers, taken together, really cause a rethinking of behavioral economies. Rather than having anomalous risk preferences; it looks like people have complexity aversion to "hard" decisions, especially on valuation, which drives behavioral anomalies. Herbert Simon ftw.

Great funding news! In my work package, we will study the determinants of (e.g., geographic) inequalities in political participation and political and bureaucratic representation, their effects on economic policy, democratic norms and political responses, and how inequalities can be alleviated.

To be clear, we do have plans for scaling, we just kinda expected more than a couple days notice before getting blasted with a million new users a day. The team is rapidly deploying fixes and new software to adapt. More servers in the mail.
