there is also risk involved when you drive a car, have surgery, get a tattoo, give birth, or go swimming. being able to *choose* risk, to *consent* to risk, is part of what it means to be an independent person with agency and the capacity for choice. this is just part of living life!

there is always risk involved in sex and in kink. no matter how careful you are, you might harm someone, accidentally slip, get a wound infected, catch an STD, or just end up feeling emotionally disturbed in ways you didn't anticipate. there is always risk - but risk is not inherently evil!

saw a post (with QRTs turned off) about how "all kinks can be practiced safely, even extreme kinks", and i do agree with the sentiment but i take issue with the argument. my take is that you *can't* always practice kink safely, *but* that's okay because people have dignity and agency. to elaborate:
