I think we really need to understand that some people living in a right wing bubble had really bizarre fantasies about "what Minneapolis is like" (it burned down, it's run by warlords, it's deeply unsafe, etc.) and some of those people are in charge of making decisions for the government.

They also chose Minneapolis because they are still enraged over Black Lives Matter. It's no mistake that Renee Good was killed in the same neighborhood as George Floyd. They were deployed in that neighborhood because it was the origin of those protests and they wanted to claim it.

And yes, a lot of MAGAs (like Stephen Miller) genuinely and truly believe in the insane theory that all the protesters are paid by George Soros (or some other wealthy Jewish entity). They are clinging to this insane, wildly bigoted theory in the face of a mountain of evidence to the contrary.

Most of the Black people in the US still live in the south. Of the counties in the US with majority Black populations, the majority are in the south. When you hear someone talking like this, they are being racist as fuck and telling you to write off Black southerners.
