My favorite artifact in the "you don't need AI to do art" discourse is, of course, screenwriter Dan O'Bannon's sketch of the facehugger to explain it to Giger.

I keep hearing that wokeness is dead but if that’s true how come there’s a TV show about a romance between two gay men who play hockey but no TV shows about a romance between two straight men who play hockey??

Yeah, I really do wish everyone would stop using Substack. It always sucks to see a new newsletter there. Most people have no idea about it as a company and see it as the default.

While reporting this, I had something happen that's never happened. A comms rep for one of the co's disputed my reporting and said what I was telling them was untrue because it was not in Grok, xAI's chatbot. I was looking directly at the files. And this person was using AI to challenge the truth.

'Granted, if our problem were orcs or the Dark Lord Sauron or something, then it would be easier to sympathise with Martin’s insistence that he is not Gandalf. Until then, it seems fair enough to ask for some semblance of a real, timely solution.' This week's column is about Magic Wand Micheál.

I don’t want to depress you all but the entire media and political class will have moved on from this latest Trump racist outburst by tomorrow, Monday at the very latest. He gets away with it every time - because he is allowed to get away with it, and because he floods the zone.

C'mon folks, only 721 people to go and we've passed the Irish threshold. If you haven't signed this already, why not? It's an important EU citizen led initiative that needs 7 countries to pass their threshold, and then the EU government machine is forced to talk about it.

Why won't the government answer a simple question? It's yes or no? Is there a criminal investigation into X itself? This government is more concerned about being viewed favourably by Big Tech than protecting the public. We must stop these harmful tools being used to produce horrific content.
