Honesty about what your values in relationships are, who you are, is so crucial. Any dickering with something like “well I don’t think it’s possible to be completely honest” or just terminating value-finding convos with “I don’t know” repeatedly (when you actually do) is just alibi-making.

The rules and rulesets you create don't have to answer to people who don't choose to use them. They have to answer to the people who do choose to use them.

These days, a TTRPG is less of a game to me and more of a call to action. I can't force anyone to answer it, nor what they will do when they answer, but I can do my best to provide inspiration and tools that are worthy of those who respond to that call.

This is why I am, and encourage other designers, to be as authoritative as possible. Every single word you wrote that gets read, every rule followed, was done with active intention by the reader. They do not need your permission to not read.
