It's that time of year again! Here are my favorite jazz albums I listened to from 2025. This is very loosely ordered from top to bottom based generally on those I found myself going back to the most or wanting to listen to again. It was a phenomenal year for jazz honestly.

Iris is so ubiquitous so it's kind of a hard song to talk about, but every once in awhile I think about how wild and extremely cool it is that one of the best songs of the last 30 years was written and performed by a band from Buffalo. Also crazy that it's still a massive hit in 2026.

I’m 10 chapters into “Hell is a world without you” and it is unbelievable how very specifically it is speaking to me and my adolescent experience. I attended the same summer camps as these kids and went to a small private school and church with them. I’m really enjoying this so far.

james gunn going over Man of Tomorrow's box office haul after it gets a four-day theatrical release in New York and LA

A 9 episode Succession spin off starring the Stranger Things cast, binge released at 3:36am PT on a Tuesday in April. Every episode is an hour and forty-seven minutes long and you’re legally required to watch it with motion smoothing turned on.

That Netflix WB merger is objectively bad for basically everyone that consumes, creates, or works in entertainment. Fewer choices, fewer jobs, fewer opportunities for artists. A well functioning society obviously blocks a merger like that but instead we’re in a race to the bottom.
