Exactly this - imo the biggest impact leads/creatives have on a team isn’t that they know the final destination. It’s that they can better steer you away from costly detours and dead ends on the way there.

There are of course fundamentals that can help you understand the toolset and vocabulary. But so much of game design is good instinct that’s honed by experience over time. You’ve got to make stuff. You’ve got to make interesting mistakes.

i got stuff to say about game systems but i dont think i could ever be a "game design influencer". the way people present things in such absolute terms to succeed in the influencer medium just rubs me 1000% the wrong way
