A friend gifted me "Slay the Princess," so I finally gave it a shot... Phenomenal visual novel that stretches against its bounds without going overboard. I'm compelled to do many, many more playthroughs! Wonderfully thoughtful at every turn, and simply gorgeous, too.

Fun thing I noticed is that playing games with an actual ending is really good for my mental health

It’s difficult to not say The Last of Us, but c’mon, Link Between Worlds was really *really* good. Shout out to Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, Gone Home, Papers Please, and honestly, LEGO Marvel Superheroes, too.

Number one is (and was at the time) God of War: Ragnarok, but Pentiment is a VERY close 2nd after finally getting to it this year. Between Golden Idol, Signalis, Citizen Sleeper, and Immortality, it was just a stellar year for story. 2022 rocks.

Interestingly, I think my "then" and "now" 2014 Top Ten are probably very similar, but memory might blur the surrounding years together... That said, Shovel Knight was def my number one, and still is.

On the heels of the failure of big money pushes for NFTs, crypto, wearables, and the metaverse, it is absurd to hold the position of "AI is inevitable and we must learn to live with it." It's also a craven position that suggests we shouldn't fight for what we value. We decide our own fates.

Played through "Keeper" from @doublefine.com Really loved the whacky nature of everything, the music/sound, and flow of the different areas and puzzles Unfortunately, felt like the design (which was excellent) was held back by the forced upscaling (DLSS, FSR, etc.) making it too hazy

Very excited for The Game Awards (as always) From announcements to awards, and everything surrounding it, it could be better, but it feels like the most unified celebration of the year Hope Silksong comes away with the wins it can get, but Expedition will deservedly sweep, I think

I actually just completed "Octopath Traveler" and enjoyed my time with it! Did the true ending, as well. Certainly long-winded in every regard, but it gave us HD-2D, and the many characters are pretty fun. An anime adaptation would be really neat, but that's just day-dreaming.
