this being said, i am always going to try really hard to not make any extra canonical statements about my stories/characters, not because i don't have a ton of information i wish i could include but because i take the stance that anything outside the official text doesn't count

man, remember when the precure fanbase was upsetti spaghetti because soaring sky didn't do a shocking mentor betrayal plot. people writing furious essays on reddit because the preschool show didn't pull the Big Shocking Twist they'd collectively wishcasted together based on scraps

This isn't new, mind - I saw similar blowups circa 2007 with stuff like ATLA and long-running shounen fighter series but easier access to creators has made it easier to scream at them for not writing the show YOU came up with during gaps between episodes/seasons/etc., and it's exhausting

Being a part of recent fandoms has reinforced a lot of my dislike for theory culture. Theories on their own are fine - it’s natural and fun to have them! But when people get too attached to their preconceptions over the story actually being told, attitudes get SUPER toxic.
