This is 100% true. Ive been in online film spaces since the 90s. And every decade was absolutely hated until sometime in the middle of the next decade the previous decade becomes the time when all the good movies were made.

I once read a quote that resonated with me especially with a lot of discourse goes online. “Every generation of film nerds think the contemporary time is the worst time for film until a decade later when they suddenly become nostalgic for it.”

Yup. It’s a cycle. This is especially evident with every Star Wars trilogy. I’m sure people will realize that they let the internet discourse affect their judgment of the sequel trilogy and will become nostalgic for them or at least be way more levelheaded about them.
