Folks are about to learn a lot about the Eighth Circuit (the federal appeals court the jurisdiction of which includes Minnesota). It has 11 active judges; 10 appointed by Republican presidents (including four by Trump). And the one senior judge still hearing cases is also a Republican appointee.

The judge asked the government to file this letter motion and asked these specific questions about jurisdiction and standing. Not to be a Debbie Downer but I don’t think the judge has the authority to appoint a special master. Someone needs to file suit over the Epstein files first.
