Some of the same people who obsessively quoted Office Space back in high school are now writing LinkedIn posts about seamlessly integrating AI processes to optimize shareholder deliverables, and I'm wondering where we got lost as a society.

Unpopular Opinion: if the film adaptation is just going to *exactly* mimic the text of the novel, I am less interested in seeing it. The point of adaptation is to *adapt* it. To change it for purpose. I am interested in the filmmakers making choices.

People need to understand what’s happening in Washington state because it’s outrageous and barely being covered by the news media. But I think it matters, and I think you’ll agree. The state is facing growing legal & public scrutiny over widespread sexual abuse of juveniles in state custody. 🧵

AI is going to make it nearly impossible for anyone to afford a new PC, phone, or gaming console -- all in the name of a future that will never come to pass and a present that will just make a few dudes rich. This is unacceptable

Remember folks it is vitally important that we tone down the rhetoric about armed agents of the state brutalizing Americans and only apply it to rational and appropriate historical parallels like raising property taxes 3% to pay for greater city services

The concentration camps will not only be for immigrants, documented or otherwise. They already aren't. They won't only be for brown and Black people. The targets will keep expanding. It will not end. The only way it will is if we stop it. Both in and out of the system. There is no other way.

Someone told me lately "Bluesky is just like Twitter." I argued that was untrue on the basis that last time I had a Twitter account most times I got a new follower their bio said "single & looking for fun" & here when I get a new follower it tends to say something like "professor of rare moths".

It’s easy to think writing is mainly the transcription of ideas you already have—that is, until you try to write something worthwhile, and you find what you thought were saying transform into something far more interesting in the process. This skips that last step, and that is *not* an improvement.

Ah, the good old days when people stole books to read them (or sell them on to people who would read them). Nowadays stolen books go straight to secret facilities run by international cartels where they're fed to machines to produce a highly addictive drug that turns people into zombies.
