Weird but true: Shortly before the ICE surge, MPD added policy language about federal immigration enforcement to include a "duty to intervene and duty to report." But somehow we got through the last several months and MPD never intervened, never forwarded any cases to the county attorney's office.

Apparently Minnesota police officers are “afraid they might get arrested or something worse” if they intervene when ICE agents are doing crimes. Meanwhile they let thousands of unpaid, unarmed Minnesotans go ahead and intervene instead. Their cowardice is breathtaking

We are facing a humanitarian crisis here. Each passing day we learn of new neighbors who haven’t left their homes and have fallen through the cracks. Lots of people aren’t connected to mutual aid networks. Just terrible suffering caused by the federal government.

Your constituents lives have been turned over entirely because of a federal occupation. That you’re pulling your punches because you’re worried about it becoming a constitutional crisis is overlooking what is already happening. You need to at least communicate that you understand what is happening.

Living in Minnesota right now feels like being in the emergency room. Literally everyone is suffering in different ways, even if it's "just" a badly twisted ankle rather than a kidney stone or a full-on heart attack. The staff are working as hard as they can but energy and resources are dwindling.

Federal immigration officers detained two people inside the Hennepin County Government Center after their court hearing on charges of criminal sexual conduct. The chief public defender for the county said the detainments were unconstitutional.

The only response here is a motion to enjoin the whole operation If the government's position is "I'm sorry your honor but we don't be the capacity to both respect constitutional rights and conduct the operation as it is currently being conducted" the answer is "then you must stop the operation"

I’m on the scene at Franklin and 1st. A convoy of about a couple dozen ICE/HSI agents broke the entryway into an apartment building at 6am. No warrant presented. Less than 24 hours ago, Tom Homan announced the end of large convoys in Minnesota… Bullshit.

I have been trying to frame this for non-Minnesotans; asking what they can do. If you have $100 to give: $20 to formal orgs $20 to legal aid work $20 to emergency rent funds $20 to the next (underfunded) mutual aid ask you see. Give $20 to a Minnesotan and tell them to buy some great local food.

The last family I raised money for rent for: I didn't meet (they live in the same building as a friend), and my friends gave money to see them avoid eviction, not knowing the family or their neighbor. I am humbled and grateful to have been part of such a chain of trust.
