Started watching Akane-banashi and I like it a lot so far! The dialogue writing is so snappy and layered, and all the characters are really distinctive and likable Maybe I should try watching Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju again sometime

Both Toshiaki and Axellion prefer swim trunks or board shorts for just spending time at the beach, but Toshiaki would wear a speedo or a wetsuit if he intended to go swimming (He's actually a strong swimmer, but his trauma around the ocean means he's probably not choosing to swim for a while)

Toshiaki actually has some fairly significant medical trauma in his past and avoided medical care as much as possible in his five years as a dock worker. Unfortunately, he can't ignore his Nanomachine Loss Syndrome forever and it becomes a significant problem for him from Volume 2 onward

Love is a romantic fantasy to Axellion, who craves an equal partnership with someone who respects and likes him as a person, not just as a pretty face or warm body. Toshiaki doesn't have a preconceived idea of "love", but his deep loyalty to his fellow soldiers was the closest feeling he's ever had

I wonder if people have a specific expectation when they hear mecha + BL that it'll be enemies-to-lovers between rival mecha pilots, since that's basically all of the well-known mecha yaoi But I'd rather tell the specific story I want to tell rather than playing directly into genre expectations

There's a lot I want to do with mecha as a concept in the future, but some things I want to explore more are just how terrifyingly massive mechs are from the perspective of a human on the ground, and the change in mentality when you start thinking, seeing, and feeling as a part of a large mecha body
