Little Free Anti-ICE Libraries: yesterday multiple people were abducted by ICE in my Chicago neighborhood (Avondale). This morning I added 40 ICE alert whistles to three different LFLs, including one box that is about a block from one of the kidnappings. I have ordered 700 whistles.

They're not even bothering to actually try to construct a narrative of why Portland is in danger and needs to be "protected." They're just invading a Democratic city to show that they can, and hoping to incite violence in response.

The reason we have come to expect SCOTUS to uphold the Constitution & rule in favor of justice is largely bc it strategically rebranded itself as “colorblind” during the civil rights era—a move that reshaped its public image & legacy. This argument extends to gender, sexuality, citizenship, etc.

A few years ago, I wrote about why we should understand the Supreme Court as a kind of national defense agency—anticipating the erosion of constitutional rights. Sadly, that argument has only become more urgent. I’m now expanding that analysis into a longer journal article.

A woman outside Broadview is trying to get answers about her family members. She said two of her uncles were taken, but they can’t find any info in the system about one of them. She’s tried the Chicago ICE phone, went to the Chicago ICE field office, court, and now here. No answers on where he is.
