Nadia, it's a bill legalising conversion therapy. There aren't loopholes in it. It explicitly provides a framework for how to legally do conversion therapy, aka torture of LGBTQ+ people, in a way that makes sure the courts will rule against LGBTQ+ people. It's a betrayal.

ETA - it's been pointed out to that while there obviously is nothing like "conversion TO gay/trans" therapy in reality, the inclusion of it here enables the fascist grift lobby to sue support networks for LGBTQIA+ folks (who are not health care providers!). Which is true, and fucking horrible.

And health care services are defined extremely broadly - they don't need to be carried out by regulated professionals. Any crank providing "mental health" services is providing "health care services" and so isn't engaging in "conversion practices". Indeed it's hard to see who this bill will catch.

Good Law Project is also obtaining legal advice from a leading law firm for a representative group of Brighton WellBN families. And if the advice is that there is legal action to be taken we believe we have a funder who can fund it.

In the High Court today for a challenge by Sex Matters to police strip search guidance. They say even if female officers consent, strip searches of trans women have to be done by male officers. Part of their submitted evidence is a "table of trans-identifying males who have committed sex crimes".
