I had a discussion about this in my grad writing class recently. I love my em dashes--especially when you need to add emphasis or break up a sentence. But AI usually uses them incorrectly, often instead of a semi+colon. So I will keep using them because em dashes are--with few exceptions--awesome.

I will never forgive AI for taking the em-dash away from me. I was — gratuitously — using it first!

Ottawa's No Tyrants protest today in solidarity with #NoKings. It was a bit chilly today, but at least the sun was out.

I love this! Protests are about showing up, but not all protest spaces are accessible. This is especially true in Ottawa as the No Tyrants protest is at the York Street steps. People with disabilities can stay on the accessible paths at the top of the stairs, but it is still limited access.

Starfleet Academy was a pleasant surprise for me. Did I love all of it? No, but that's true for any Trek series. I also wasn't the target demographic. But it was a strong first season--a rare thing for Star Trek. Given Paramount's political shenanigans right now, I worry for the future of Star Trek.
