I really love these results from the perspective of individual differences in decision making in animals. As a field we assume that animals should be "optimal" in tasks, without questioning what the implications would be evolutionarily if this were actually true (bad, bad implications, see below)

I've got whole blood bulk RNA-seq data on 4000+ individuals, almost entirely women (its for autoimmune stuff). After a possible mix up with some samples, I tried using a set of sex-specific transcripts to double check and let me tell you - that does not work. There's just too much chimerism.

For folks who were asking about numbers for non-XX/XY karyotypes: “Current estimates for alternative sex karyotypes are at least 1 out of 440 people.”

Friendly neighborhood geneticist here again! As someone who’s run literally THOUSANDS of human genetic samples, let me tell you one more time - there’s far more variability around XX or XY than most people will ever know. For most people, it never matters. Sex != gender, and karyotype != phenotype.
