Male & female kingfisher plus young otter from the Water of Leith on Sunday. The female kingfisher followed the otter for a while catching small fish disturbed by it. The otter was v bold, hunting close to the bank (& several onlookers).

What an utterly terrible thing for Edinburgh Council to do. It's bad enough sharing space with black cabs but private hires are just bad

After a so so trip to see the bearded tit colony on Monday I tried tried tried again yesterday. A bit more successful I think! Absolutely striking plumage on these wee birds.

Thank you to the GMP officers who, it seems, prevented the terrorist hurting anyone else. And thank you to the CST volunteers who protect British Jews every day. For those doing so, wishing them an easy fast.

Small pod of dolphins with a youngster in tow passing Chanonry point. I spent several hours over a few days watching for them but although i saw them every trip they did not play ball and leap about in front of the camera!

I sat in a hide at

Bawsinch reserve today scanning an empty loch. My next words "where's the wildlife?!". Then a glimpse of electric blue, a kingfisher sitting watching us! I had one shot before it showed it's disdain & flew off.

Disproportionately delighted to see that this tiny fox cub - the youngest I've seen - already has its little white tail-tip 🥰

It's not often you see hares sitting still. Spotted this one soaking up the warm sunshine in the early morning light.

On a bit of a lucky streak at the moment (famous last words...). Otter family last week followed by an hour watching this gallus kingfisher in great light today! It even caught a few fish when the light was still good. Spotted on the Figgate burn in Edinburgh

My otter "drought" finally ended today on a walk along the Water of Leith in Edinburgh! Fabulous to see an otter in the middle of the city.
