I remember when some ugh company bought our newspaper or sent new management to our newspaper—I honestly don't recall which—and decided the new slogan would be "Making Good News Happen," and all of the journalists were mortified and embarrassed and mocked it endlessly, b/c ... no, that's not it.

And if Congress ever legislated on the matter in good faith (I know, I know), it seems obvious that there should be a distinction made between land border areas, rivers, etc. where crossing is a realistic possibility and frickin oceanic coastline.

Have seen a number of people (astutely) post the 100 mile border zone map which rings the country as a refutation of the second idea. But it's worth pointing out that border zone is the creature of regulation and a bad SCOTUS decision; Congress has never actually taken the matter in hand afaik.

Brandishing is a legal term that means to display all or part of a firearm, or otherwise make its presence known to another person to intimidate them, regardless of whether it's directly visible to that person. Given the video, that's not what Alex Pretti was doing when he was shot & killed.
