I worry that this specific set of reforms—even if successfully implemented—would just push more of ICE’s violence into private spaces where it would be harder for the public to intervene. Notably absent is any mention of transparency, safety, or civil rights in the detention centers.

These reforms are eerily similar to the ones that didn’t end police brutality. But made it just palatable enough for people who presume they won’t personally be targeted to go back to looking away.
