Last year, I joined a group of other local GMs to start organizing non-5e D&D game days and that went great. This year, I'll be working with some old friends to make RPG stuff. What stuff? We've yet to decide. Working w/ a dedicated group is a New Experience for me though and I look forward to it!

I do some community organising around environmental issues IRL; I write about imperialism and colonial violence. When I play games sometimes its nice to just kill demons, or stake vampires, or manage a colony. If you already do activism I don't think you need to dream about activism, too. 9/

Re: last repost I was having similar thoughts earlier ( since the whole 'colonist dungeon' thing came up again). The dungeon as fantasy is really a kind of (ludo)narrative device present in a lot of games and literature that I think gets wrongly (at times) caught up in colonialist trappings.

Many proposals I've seen for making the dungeon crawl less colonial are really about *humanising* the dungeon: The dungeon as community; monsters as people; etc. Great! You should be doing this already. In pure design terms a humanised landscape yields more complex, more gameable stories. 2/

As much as I appreciate the 'focus on reading what you like, not reading more' crowd, I've found a lot of fulfillment in compelling myself to read outside my usual preferences--not just for school, but in book clubs where people have suggested/voted on books I never would've read, left to myself.

Anyway, leaving all that aside, I'm excited to run my library of D&D 5e adventures in Shadowdark instead of their native system, because this is *so much more* conducive to the way I like to GM. (And, arguably, much more consonant with the tone of the adventures themselves.)
