Just to come back to this, to demonstrate quite how pervasive it is - I saw something the yesterday which was supportive of comics, however it unconsciously talked about younger readers picking up ‘graphic novels’ and ‘books’ as two distinct categories, with the latter being the goal.

People who have written opinion pieces about how we should emulate manga sales needs to look at the Shonen Jump/One Piece/Dragonball comic sales on here vs all of the brands that started out as an English language comic titles, & give me a precise breakdown as to how exactly they plan to achieve it.

This deserves to win an Oscar.

Said it before, but: The absolute best screen version of LotR would have been made in the mid-to-late 1970’s by ITV, and would’ve been about 4 series long, with a cast mostly made up m of aging British character actors, and have had a synth soundtrack.

I increasingly dislike the idea of comic adaptations of prose books (Darwyn Cooke’s Parker series aside), however I am interested to see when traditional publishing is going to start doing prose adaptations of comics.

Pro tip: Don’t have *massive* house renovations going on when you’re in final art season for a graphic novel project. We’re 4 months into a supposed 3 week renovation and I’m losing the will to liiiiiiiiiiiiive.
