Right, I'm going to post something about the draft EHRC guidance, and I'm happy to be corrected, but here goes... In my knowledge of the queer history of law in the UK, we have not had statutes that prohibit "cross-dressing" in the way they did, say, in many US states. What you did have was...

Those quoted in that Times article who want what they call a merit-only system would struggle to explain how the pre-DEI domination of white men can be explained by merit alone. Unless they want to say that white men are smarter and better at science than everyone else.

Since next week is consolidation week (so no lectures) I needed to do my spooky Jazzy Thursday nails this week! The base is a charity nail varnish called βthe blackest sabbathβ where the proceeds go to Cure Parkinsonβs. The stickers on top are spooky! Overall a Halloweeny treat. π¦π·οΈπΈοΈπ§ββοΈ

This whole obsession with "too many people going to uni" is such a classic example of the parochialism of UK policymaking. No one bothers to ask why the % here is lower than in most other developed countries or whether that might be relevant.

This. Ask me what it was like being in high school when size 8 was considered fat and my friends all had eating disorders. Or how being the only girl walking into a gaming store felt like a chum tossed into a shark tank. Or how men in public started asking me out or catcalling me around at age 13.

Magnificent scenes in Sainsburyβs. Some dude just knocked a load of toothbrushes off a shelf with a protruding baguette. He picked them all up, put them all back, and as he was walking away he knocked them all off again with the same baguette. I laughed and laughed and helped him put them back again
