Did some leafleting for @emmaewood.bsky.social in Elmwood. Every time I do leafleting, I am reminded of how hard postal workers work. And I just had the one leaflet to pass out - not stacks of sorted mail.

Today is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. This day honours and remembers the children who were forced into Canada's Residential School system. It was first observed as Orange Shirt Day in 2013 and was elevated to a statutory holidy for federal workers in 2021.

Tragically, Will Stancil is actually the closest thing this age has to a moral paragon because he was exposed to people being mean to him on the internet without becoming a Trumpist out of spite, a test which seemingly every other major Discourse Generator online has failed.

You can’t just change a system, you need to invest in it if you hope to see major improvements. Our city is trying to get the benefits without investing the $.

This is a system that can be scaled up easily. City council gave transit specific instructions that they had no new operation funding for the new system. So, this is a frame that can be dialed up if we choose. Hopefully they do!

The weather wasn't great but everyone made the best of it at the Elmwood Night Market last night! One fun new addition to the event was the Handle the Heat hot wing challenge with sauces all made by JC's Tacos. Kudos to these brave souls!!!

Great time, as always, at the Chalmers Neighbourhood Renewal Corporation (CNRC) Elmwood Night Market. Great info booths, performances, local vendors, and food trucks! And so many helpful CNR staff & volunteers.

I really enjoy doing this. We all can learn the value of our own neighborhoods like Elmwood, by doing events like these.

A&W restaurants exist in the US, but since they were split off like five? decades ago, they're actually different—as well as much less successful. (I've never been to a US one and, while I've seen them, I couldn't tell you the location of any, but I know the exact location of a bunch in Canada.)

No. The Canadian A&W operation has been under different ownership than the U.S.-based A&W chain since 1972. The Canadian version has more stores, and my understanding is that many fast food connoisseurs consider the Canadian chain superior to the U.S. chain

Are A&W restaurants not as big in the US as they are in Canada?
