In the last week another First Nation in BC had 400+km of land returned to them. And no one has talked about it. It's obviously not about land. It's only about hate and fear mongering.

Crazy pretty fall day in Montreal. Last day of 10-day trip. Ate low class Quebec faves - dep pizza, karnatzel sandwichs, wilensky’s bologna specials.

The Ottawa metro system is so much better than you'd guess from online criticisms (though I'm sure the critics are right about the system's rollout). Pricey. But easy to use machines, no zones, good coverage, fast, comfortable trains, the only bad parts: too infrequent, and no down escalator.

When you see how much our parliament looks like Hogwarts - you can understand why parliamentarians act like regular Canadians are muggles.

The only valid thing about this bill is this - land acknowledgements shouldn't: "attribute collective guilt to individuals based on race, ancestry or the actions of Canadian historical figures." But then... real ones don't. Real ones follow the Coast Salish law that created them.

When Trump acts like this, for me, and I hope for many others - it increases my tolerance for delays in sorting out a deal with the US, it increases my acceptance of pain while we work to find new trade partners.

At an Indigenous identity conference in Ottawa, and saw this come through my linkedin - a great position for this Indigenous professor. I hope the pretendian issue is front and centre for them - as it plays a role in Indigenous over incarceration numbers.

Visited the Museum of History in Gatineau yesterday and saw this new piece - their residential school memorial - and it’s really striking.

At a talk and someone asked: Why don’t people protest against what’s happening with the Rohingya or Russia? They had not a great answer. A suggestion - because people don’t protest when they agree with their government, and our government has stood against both of those other genocides.

Of the 2500 or so Palestinian people Israel released, they determined that 150 were so dangerous they would only be released in another country. Which means that the other 2300 or so weren't actually dangerous, and were in fact hostages that were traded for IDF pows. The news should reflect that.
