Just heard about this yesterday as one of the authors, Daniel Stern, is now one of my group supervisor colleagues since JPL merged its planetary science and astrophysics sections. Looking at the author list, it looks like @saavikford.bsky.social is on it,’too? Really big flare!

It was a good parade. People were excited. We lucked into being close to the street by virtue of getting lost through all the tunnels and stuff around Bunker Hill. Imagine this with a mental soundtrack of Randy Newman singing I Love LA.

I know people love to donate goods, it feels concrete and satisfying, but a food bank can make that $2 or $5 go soooo much further than you can. Just donate the cash. And, then they also don't need to assign staff to sort, manage, and figure out how to distribute the random donations.

Well, I’m fairly certain that they aren’t coming back on this one (although I still hope to be proven wrong). They’ve turned back to mid-summer Dodgers all of a sudden. But if they go back to late September/early October form, they can easily win two in a row in Toronto.
