Part of why I’m painting a Baja Blast is to challenge my skills. Making astro-themed art that requires painting new materials or complex lighting. Tricky components for this include: carbonated liquid in a semi-transparent cup, refraction of a metal straw, and 2 “stickers” behind the cup. 🚀🍋‍🟩

I am a space artist. I started my Baja Blast painting a couple months ago because I love Taco Bell and wanted to experiment with some new techniques/materials. Now this painting feels like another way to say fuck you to this anti-science regime, and I love that for me.

Space art that will unlock a core memory—glow stars on the ceiling! I recreated a slice of my childhood bedroom by sculpting a popcorn ceiling on canvas with handmade glowing stars. Even though it was an experiment with materials I’ve never used, I love how it turned out ⭐️

Earlier today there was a praying mantis on my kitchen window, like inside the screen. I went outside to make sure he wasn’t stuck. He flew away as soon as I got outside. Okay bye! Not stuck. I just noticed he came back at some point 🥹

Guess we are going for round 2! Another severe storm watch for parts of southern Arizona. Yesterday, there were up to 80 mph wind gusts in Tucson. I photographed several snapped and uprooted trees earlier today. I’m a trained spotter, so I submit what I can to the NWS.
