One of my favorite apps on this platform (atproto, not Bluesky) is skyboard.dev by @disnetdev.com (who also creates @skyreader.app that I also love). It's a kanban board app and its data lives in our personal data stores (just like @bluesky, @semble.so, @popfeed.social, and tons of others!)

There's a workflow in here somewhere for building ATproto apps in a collaborative real-time lexicon building+ deliberation tool, deploying an appview with a single button with all the DevOps automated and including versioning and automated documentation, and creating/linking client repos in tangled.

atproto, ActivityPub, Nostr, whatever protocol comes next - tools. That's all they are. If the tool stops working, take it out of the toolbox. Simple as that.

If it's not obvious, I too am not an atproto absolutist. I'm not even a protocol absolutist. I'm a "give people the agency to choose and then change their minds" absolutist.

Hot take: Closing your Bluesky account shouldn't delete your DID or PDS. It should clear out the Bluesky lexicon data, then facilitate migration to another PDS with some user education across the flow. Lexicon embeds would help with education in flow. "Are you sure? Look at all the stuff you have."
