I was kind of indifferent to this DNC report mess, but I found out that *Paul Rivera* was its author. This was one of the guys responsible for the enfeeblement of the NYS Democratic Party for years. How tf do NY's rejects fail upward with such velocity???

I'm 70% of the way through. This book feels almost evil for being so well written while its plot stays unrelentingly focused on bitterness and loss.

The circlejerk of discourse wouldn't be such an issue on Bluesky if power-users just moderated their replies *with tools that Bluesky makes available to everyone*. Instead they keep trying to do the Main Character of the Day schtick. FFS, can't we just let Twitter behavior die with Twitter?

I think it's fair to say that Frank's legacy is more than just "complicated" by his late-career work for a bank that failed to enforce the state-of-good-repair clause in its mortgages and which tech robber barons picked clean.

So many self-appointed efficiency experts on Bluesky wanted to tell LIRR workers what work rules they should be getting, turnabout is fair play; maybe LIRR workers should be telling Bluesky's teachers and social workers and public defenders what rules should be imposed on them!

I don't care how much money members of the LIRR union are making (from what I heard, despite the lies from the NY Post, their also comes from overtime). If you bring up their salaries to justify union busting, you're a bootlicking asshole.

This story on the LIRR strike has two points getting missed elsewhere: 1. It's happening only after 3 years of negotiations and 6 arbitration boards 2. Workers care about the passengers they're inconveniencing and know the cost of what they've been forced to do

Unions and management were both reporting incremental progress up until Friday night. The MTA's last second demand for healthcare concessions provoked the strike. Hochul should not be lecturing labor about coming to the table, she should tell management to stop pulling stunts that waste time.

The funny thing is this goes back a millennium. Arthurian legends are almost entirely a matter of Celtic Britons mythologizing the world before the Angles and Saxons arrived. In many ways, the prophecies of Arthur's return were a longing to see England liberated from the English.
