Conservative is an alignment to existing status quo. Our existing status quo is a machine built for eating people, so we must not be conservative. If we created a status quo dedicated to human thriving rather than profit of capital, we might well become conservatives.

1. It would appear that in recent reporting, the BBC is now using the phrase "biological male who identifies as a woman" when they mean to talk about a transgender woman. This is an incredibly demeaning way to talk about transgender women in news pieces. Subscribe to support our journalism.

My carefully considered, nuanced and balanced policy view is that we should tax gambling profits, including sports betting, at like 98% and one executive's kidney per quarter. I'm not sure having every UK mainstreet be three quarters Ladbrokes is good, actually.

When you see "14 years of x" line, it tells you you're dealing with someone who can't analyse politics without a party lens. Britain's been governed by the same overarching philosophy since 1979, regardless of which party was in power. And without understanding that, you won't understand anything.

Juries are not perfect. Many of the worst miscarriages of justice have followed jury trials. But the merit of juries is not so much the power they have, but the power they prevent others from having. They mean a judge cannot just nod-along with prosecution evidence and give a guilty verdict.
