at what point is it okay to say the reason this country is sliding into fascism is actually that we have full-time paid activists and organizers that either willingly or unwillingly are locked into positions where their moves are choreographed such that they can not win

Having quote posts disabled on a quote post is a pain. The American working class is, maybe, fairly mobilized. You are going to need a citation for 'most combative' in the west, and 'most organized' just can not be true. At least, not across all definitions so that it is self evident.

this is the simple answer to people who keep saying NATO expansion matters. Sure, it matters because it presented an obstacle to Russian imperial ambitions. Putin didn't invade because he hated NATO expansion, he hated NATO expansion because he wanted to invade

Something about this does not pass the smell test for me. One, because I think the initial $1 billion tax is odd. Second, because SEIU frequently gets into deals with healthcare companies to pass these things in exchange for...well, crumbs sometimes. Maybe that partnership is exactly what this needs

If I’ve developed a personal philosophy in the past few years, it’s that nostalgia poisons interpersonal relations, expectations for the future, and even our politics. I devoted most of my life to thinking about the past and I’m begging people to find a way to leave it there.
