Government is shut down. Chaos in airports. 42 million going hungry. 24 million face skyrocketing healthcare costs. Economy in turmoil. And the president of the United States is in the Fox broadcast booth calling plays for a football game.

it would be a funny bit if a working families party/DSA/socialist moved into a columbus city council district the day before the deadline and went on to win a city council seat

What if the Columbus City Council election was a ward system instead where only District 7 residents voted for the District 7 race? Vogel 62% (10,829 votes) Ross 38% (6,592 votes) Vogel won 60 of the 79 precincts in District 7 (76%) (3/4)

Columbus City Council has a hybrid at-large districting system. A councilmember must live in the district but the entire city votes on the election. Last night in the District 7 race, Jesse Vogel handily won his own district, but lost the overall election to Tiara Ross. Ross 51% Vogel 49% (1/4)

I don’t care what your campaign was, if you put political signs in the public right of way, it’s your job to pick them up! (and preferably recycle at one of the many recycling places in the area)

When you’re riding public transit you realize that what’s good for everybody is also good for you. If the bus runs faster, if the train is cleaner, if the AC works, we all benefit when you’re driving a car, every other car on the road is your personal enemy

Well, the Columbus establishment can rest easy a little longer - Vogel is down about 1500 votes with 99% precincts reporting. As in the primary, Vogel handily wins District 7 but narrowly loses citywide, thanks to the city’s ridiculous fake ward system. Time for real electoral reform in this city!
