I am...about 70-80% sure I saw a tornado from my house in Las Vegas on Friday night. Supercell north of town put on a spectacular lightning show, and a stovepipe-shaped cloud formed under it. Either the most convincing scud ever or I caught a truly rare desert twister.

This is my first blue hour / Milky Way composite. I set up the tripod at the scene I wanted, took one exposure for the landscape after sunset at about 8pm, and then another for the sky at about 10pm. I blended the two images in Photoshop, and darkened the landscape to feel more nightish. 1/2

Wake lows happen every year or two and are always fascinating to watch. Last night's caused a dozen wind gusts >=90 mph in North Dakota.

While the Falcon 9 has proven itself to be a massive success in reliability and reusability, the Starship program is basically thr worlds biggest and most expensive firework. An utter failiure thats on the level of the soviet N1. That said, holy shit what a spectacular blast!

This was a particularly fascinating photo of the Dickens tornado. The bottom 1/3 of the condensed tornado appeared to 'hollow out' leaving just the shell of the circulation condensed, surrounded by dust. If you look closely the residual condensation takes on a 'braided' look similar to vinyl tubing.
