10,000 RECORDS BROKEN: It's official: This March's number of high temperature records was higher than any month after 1950. In other words, this was the most intense, biggest heat wave in modern history.

The records continue to come in for this month's heat wave(s). Over 10,000 records were set, counting daily + monthly records set this March.

This was some interesting research. Texas is #1 of course due to the size of the state. Top 10 are a mix of Tornado Alley & Dixie Alley, but with Florida at #5 which was a little surprising but they get lots of weak tornadoes there and have heavy population.

Meanwhile, in the Lower 48, the March temperature departure from normal is pretty brutal. It'll be close on whether March 2026 will eclipse March 2012 for the warmest on record. My gut feeling is that 2012 will remain the record; but Nov-Mar and Dec-Mar will be new records.

Just got a nice hailstorm in State College, PA. First at night in a long time. I didn't see any 1" here (I'm at the square) but definitely 0.50". Extremely rare outside of May here.

It's very rare, but it seems Central PA is at the pinnacle of today's severe weather forecasts. Storms are over State College from ~3pm to 8pm per simulated radar forecasts.

According to ACIS, the WPC high of 108 yesterday near North Shore, California may tie a new National March High Temperature Record. Of course, we're likely to see even higher temperatures today!

This is crazy, folks. We are forecasting 105 today in Phoenix. NWS if forecasting 106. Earliest date >=105 on record is April 20th 1989, more than a month out! Average is May 31!!

This was the last view from the NASA Infrared Telescope Facility on top of Mount Kea, Hawaii before the power went out Friday. I've never seen this much snow on the cam and I've also never seen the cam go down. 54,000 ppl are without power in Hawaii this morning.
