The lowest temperature so far this season in Fairbanks, AK, is 37F. Every other year has had a temp of at least 35F by this date and most years have has a temp in the mid 20Fs. @alaskawx.bsky.social

Sitka 73F (22.8C) on Tuesday was a new record high temperature for September 16. This occurred long after sunset as offshore winds brought in very warm air from interior Baranof Island. This is the highest temp of 2025 and is the 4th time since 1948 that the annual max temp occurred in Sept. #akwx

A good bet that the highest temperatures of 2025 have occurred in and around Alaska. Widespread 90s in the Koyukuk & Kobuk valleys are extreme, but likely not as rare as the 80s on the western North Slope. Meanwhile, some places in Southcentral/Southeast had unusually low peak temps. #akwx #Climate
