Do I have any friends who own breweries or are starting one? A friend's brewery in Victoria, BC, is selling off their long-standing brand/IP as well as equipment (a lot gone already, but canning line and tanks still available at great prices).

Oh, wow. I read her Auschwitz memoir "Eva's Story" (which I picked up off the library shelf for obvious reasons) when I was maybe a bit too young. It left a huge impression on me. I had no idea she was still alive.

Friends, it is minus-43 C today (minus-53 with the windchill), nearly everyone is hunkered down, many things are canceled or closed, and yet, a postal worker just delivered my mail. I had to put a mitten on to grasp my iced-up door handle to open the door and get my mail and yell a thank-you! Wild.

We've had our turkey in a friend's freezer since October (which is when the local farmer we got it from does his butchering) and they live close by, too close to bother starting the car at minus-40 just to retrieve the bird. And so? This morning I walked a backpack full of frozen turkey home.
