Next step in the ROPEWALK project: Quality control of the many ship voyages. A common problem is with position, both in the original (e.g., wrong octant near the prime meridian) and the transcribed data. Next, search for outliers etc. will be done. Example: M/S Uruguay, first quarter of 1952.

Unseasonally warm over eastern Greenland and Iceland. Egilsstaðaflugvöllur in eastern Iceland had a maximum temperature of 26°C, while a maximum of 14°C was observed in Ittoqqortoormiit in eastern Greenland. That is about 10°C warmer than the average temperature for the time of the year.

The onset of the melting season in Greenland is defined as the first of at least three days in a row with melting over more than 5% of the Greenland Ice Sheet. The median over the period 1981-2025 is on 26 May. This year, the melting onset was 12 days early, on 14 May, which is rank 11 of 45 years.

How long does it on average take between two total solar eclipses? 375 years, but they are not evenly distributed. Sumbe (Angola, 11.2°S, 13.9°E) had two within 18 months (21/6/2001 and 4/12/2002). The last total eclipse in Rome was on 3/6/1239. The next one will be on 3/9/2252, 1013 years later.
