How does an #indiestudio create a soundtrack for their 17th century folk horror game? Step one: Hire a badass audio team. Step two: let them be their weird, wonderful selves. @chrisrickwood.bsky.social made his own tagelharp (YES - handmade!), then he also tracked down a hurdy-gurdy just for us.

If you're on the edge let me endorse is to you - in this game you literally bargain with Demons before fighting them, and thats hella cool. Also the demons are polite cosmic horrors, so that's a bonus.

basically all of these films were major points of obsession for me in college, and now you can watch them all just on youtube. amazing. in particular Mirror basically changed my entire relationship with film after i took a Russian cinema class on a whim and it made me change to a film major.

It's gonna be 9 years I've been with Question in January. That's by far the longest I've been with any team, and far longer than most gamedev teams survive. I love this team.

"Many keys to any lock" is probably the most consistent, simple, and punchy - of those that have survived from AAA to indie + across genres. Any game I work on tends to support multiple solutions to a problem, and ideally: tries make the player feel capable of inventing a few outside our intent.🪤

Just finished the demo for The Killing Stone (store.steampowered.com/app/2781470/...) From @questiongames.bsky.social The story drew me in, and the combat was fun. Definitely, 100% pick Period Dialogue if you try it. Not only is there some great voice acting, but the tone is that much grimmer.

Bargaining stakes are permanent for the family member whose demonic pact you’re revising (deck / build). Some massively buff or debuff you vs. a particular demon lord’s cards. Very satisfying to bait them into bidding against something you don’t care about, then pull the rug out in the final round.

Liam brings so much life to this character, in two separate performances! Because, not only did Jordan write the game in both modern and 17th-century period-appropriate English, but the actors recorded both versions! It's a narrative sickos wonderland.

haven't finished the demo yet (it's a big one!) but i really recommend checking this out. it's unique and fun and i was shocked by how good the writing was (definitely play with period dialogue if you can!)
