We were recently made aware of disturbing and offensive artwork in the new game Ace of Spades by Devir. We have contacted Devir regarding this matter. Fellow hobbyists: we must strive to be better humans. We can’t simply “look the other way” when an issue doesn’t affect us directly.

During Gen Con, I will have 250 of these zines with me. The goal is to inform normies about what’s going on with CGE and a call to action to join the blacklist. No buying, pitching, or covering CGE games until they give the community a proper apology and response on how they plan to make good. 🎲✂️

More and more content creators, game designers, and game purchasers are making a pledge not to buy from, pitch, or promote CGE or their games for the foreseeable future. Until they release a more meaningful statement where they pledge to make things right. Join us however is applicable to you.

Out of Sorts has quickly become a favorite game to pull out with friends and family. It always provides lots of laughs, and is guaranteed to finish in 20 minutes! (It’s on a timer.) I highly recommend picking up a copy for yourself.

Xoe does it again with another great video! It always gets me to see my own designs in a new light and this about what messages my games are sending, whether intentional or not.

Just got this awesome game by @benhammer.bsky.social. Reading the rules, I really love the way it replicates a river ecosystem. The player objectives create incentives to interact with the river and other players in interesting ways. Can’t wait to play it!!

Alas, Adulting was not named a CE finalist, but I received some great feedback and a lot of inspiration. It's also really cool to see a number of folks I know and call friends be named finalists. My experience of this contest has been yet another affirmation that game design is rad as hell.

This looks to be a great resource for game design. I’m a big believer in the curb cut effect, where accessible design is just good design, period.

Does anyone know of other games that use a victory condition similar to the influence in @mildamatildagames.bsky.social’s Pax Penning? (Specifically, where someone can steal your victory if they have more of your tokens than you do.) I’m in love with this mechanic and want to see it used more. 🎲✂️

A great starting selection for game night at the food pantry! I had the pleasure of playing Quacks of Quedlinburg and two games of Bread by @xoe.gay. I was a little selfish in my first Bread game and we all starved. Luckily, everyone wanted to play again so I had a chance to redeem myself!

We all learn and grow in our own ways. How to love is one of them. Unlocking vulnerability is the key to making meaningful art. Though as it is capable of making art worth reacting to, so too does it put the maker at risk. It’s a balance! Ego death may be the solution to that one 😂

I love this sentiment. We should think of more things in our lives as prototypes. “Ah shoot, I burned the cake. No worries, it was just a prototype! The next iteration will be better.”

I’ve tried to prioritize accessibility and approachability in my designs. Other 🎲✂️ folks have helped me realize that this has subconsciously led me to think of games as a commodity that should appeal to the broadest market. Where do y’all draw the line between approachability and commodification?

Some news outlets are reporting that Among Us contributed to Luigi Mangione’s assassination of the UnitedHealthcare CEO. So we’re blaming widely beloved games and forgiving inhumane and predatory business practices?
