Something I periodically try to instill in people is that work hierarchies do not translate to individual worth as a person. Having more "authority" does not reflect on someone's value as a person. Nor does having wealth, which is a separate (but related) issue. I wish more people understood this.

Having volunteered for Meals on Wheels (because my grandmother in her later years after my grandfather died basically relied on MoW until we could convince her to move closer to us), the amount of good they do for basically no budget at all is astounding. Funded properly, they’d be a miracle.

Also we had to yell at him for a few months before he actually agreed to use it. He was really stubborn about getting help and using social services partly bc there are so so many hoops to jump through, partly bc he was prideful, and partly bc he thought he didn’t need it lol make them get it!

His life he had to stay at the long term care facility & every time I visited him, he’d complain about the food so this guy doesn’t just say anything is fine lol. If a senior u know needs it, tell them about meals on wheels! Thank god the funding didn’t get cut (tho it’s frozen so effectively cut)
