The added irony here is that state legislators in blue states virtually always have far more policy resources at their disposal than those in red states. But in my experience, they don't produce better policy; they just bureaucratize the process and produce small-c conservative legislation.

Still gobsmacked by this Sacramento Planning Commission meeting. 300 unit project. Tons of public support. Commissioners said state law required them to approve, but that they’d support it regardless. All agreed they’d prefer less parking. 10-0 vote to support. Done in 2 hours. Magical.

Harbor UCLA in my home region of the South Bay is one of the places I am considering as I make my residency rank list. Walking around, it’s fairly car-oriented with a new 7-story 1500 space parking structure despite being adjacent to J Line and serving a largely urban low income population.

Utterly, devastatingly, terribly beat by politics, the Metro Board, greedy local politicians, and self-interested landowners jockeying over a precious light rail extension we’ve fought for over 3 years. This broke me and I’m so burnt out. Will it ever be built? Torrance won’t get rail until 2050?

We’ve been relying on extracting resources from other areas, both within America and the Global South, at their economic and public health expenses, when we had the long term solution set up long before cars even became popular. Muni has been powered by water for 90 years. We just need more wire.

We need term limits for US Senators, Congressional representatives, and SCOTUS. Also, we need leaders who actually enforce the US Constitution.

Instead of whatever this is, we should have a government getting lots of new homes and apartments built, lots of clean energy built, lots of high speed rail and transit and bike lanes built, human rights for everyone, economic & healthcare opportunities for all, & innovation that leads the world.
