So (according to Google) the average American household's net worth is just over $1 million. Seem crazy and far from your lived experience? Same here. But mathmatically it makes sense WHEN YOU INCLUDE SO MANY BILLIONAIRES. Even if you hate math, try to understand it.

Today is my birthday. 48. Is that old? Well, it's the oldest I've ever been. Have I learnt anything worth sharing in that time? Let's see.

So I have a Friday story for you. It’s one I promised to tell before. The themes are “seek help when you need it” and “communicating with family is important” but also “pay attention to how your coms work.” /1

Do YOU remember “the 21st night of September?” Earth Wind & Fire’s co-writer Allee Willis said she told the band: “We can’t leave ‘baa-dee-ya’ in the chorus. That has to mean something.’” Maurice White replied: “No, that feels great. That’s what people are going to remember. We’re leaving it.”

Here's my favorite "Thing I Got From A Gashapon Machine" win from the Japan trip. It's a guy in mirrorshades using his phone. And a clip to hold the lid on your cup noodles while they cook.

Let's recap the timeline for those of you who haven't been following. Friday: a deportation flight containing 88 Brazilians takes off from American soil. The deportees are handcuffed and bound in leg irons, as is standard practice on such flights. The Americans are flying into a trap.

In 2025 (less than 30 days away), PayPal will start selling your transaction history for targeted advertising. I very highly recommend logging into your account and going to Settings > Data & Privacy > Personalized Shopping. If you're reading this, turn that off RIGHT NOW before you forget.

A fun thing I've learned living in France (among lots of others) is they have Black Friday, but have absolutely no idea what it means. So you see advertisements for Black Friday Week or Black Week or Black Friday Weekend. It's cute. And they just understand it as a euphemism for sales. 1/3
