Some lunar vocabulary in case you're following along with the #Artemis II flyby: * albedo: reflectiveness (high albedo=very shiny) * mare/maria(plural): from Latin for "sea," dark regions on the Moon, which are dried lava basins * terminator: the line of the transition between sunlight & darkness

Here’s Jim Lovell’s message for the crew, recorded before his death and shared with this morning’s wake up message.

Less than an hour to go before they break the Apollo XIII distance record.

Wow! Jim Lovell's son sent the Artemis II crew his Apollo VIII patch that flew around the moon for them to bring along.

And we have a new photo of the moon from Artemis II and you can just make out the terminator on the right-side of the moon here.

I thought NASA desegregated ages ago.

At its closest point, the crew of Artemis II will loop about 4,000 miles from the lunar surface late Monday. The astronauts will also venture farther into space than any previous human mission.

I basically stayed in bed today except for necessities. They gave me exercises at PT yesterday and I ignored them, I’ll start tomorrow. I was utterly knackered from my first week back at work and took a rest day.
