Democrats have to stop bailing out Republicans from facing the consequences of their own policies. And yeah, that means they have to stop sparing voters from experiencing what GOP government truly means. Every time Dems step in, it only emboldens the GOP & they make it even worse the next time.

So Democrats get: 1. A CR that will prevent the GOP from facing the wrath of Americans for a shutdown over the holidays 2. A coupon for one (1) meaningless ACA vote that will fail 3. An end to the illegal RIF/SNAP moves that are already before the courts Those all seem like wins for the GOP.

One way to explain why prisons are so big & bad in the US is that weak feds didn't create a post-68 (de)industrial policy, so unregulatable, austere states built racist solutions to structural problems. Now the racist solutions are pursued by fully funded, unregulatable federal cops and prisons.

Of the three presidential campaigns against Trump, two (2016 and 2024) made elaborate appeals to centrists at the expense of their relationship with progressives, and only one (2020) prioritized efforts to bridge the gap with progressives, however impermanently. The latter approach won.

Itâs worth considering how an Andrew Cuomo mayoralty would objectively be a disaster and everybody knows itâespecially his backers. But they donât give a shit about the day after, only thwarting the rise of any potential alternative. A striking demonstration of the nihilism of the political centre.

This is an excellent point. Zohran ran a textbook campaign that the centrists are always talking about, just talking about rent control and free buses and cost of living, and the centrist Dems tried to make it all about Israel/Palestine and other identity issues (his Muslim faith) to smear him.

Dems will lose my vote over going anti-trans and it's not because I'm a single issue voter. Being anti-trans is so often a dead canary for literally every other kind of bigotry it's not even worth entertaining. And on top of that it's anti-science as trans health is backed by numerous studies.

For 6 months, Dem leaders have downplayed or refused to frontally address many of Trump's worst abuses by saying those are "distractions" from the Dems focusing on economic issues. But as Trump's tax bill is being voted on, Jeffries is attacking a Dem ...over a phrase that Dem doesn't even use.
