The one thing about EC that makes me sad though is that we will enter another cycle of people telling new players, friends and the general public that skipping entire story beats for "the good stuff" is the way to go. Just skip ARR to do HW Just skip SB to do SHB Just skip DT to do EC

To anyone that needs to hear this: It's okay to completely rework, change, or alter your OC whenever you want. It's okay to be excited about what's new. It's okay to make a new shard whenever a new reflection is announced. It's okay to retcon or re-write your lore whenever a new expansion drops.

my hot take is that it's important for newcomers to play ARR because it's fundamentally the same game as every other expansion- if you don't enjoy ARR, there's no reason you would enjoy SHB, because a lot of the flaws of ARR carry into every other expac, it's just how FFXIV is designed
