There's a broader conversation to be had on the subject of romance/dating and how Black people seek validation in white spaces. But tbh it probably can't be had because it's far more widespread than some folks want to admit (*cough* Nicolandria stans *cough*).

They eked out the W and A'ja is back to asserting her dominance on the boards so on balance that's a good day. But it's increasingly clear that their overall game is much sharper when Jewell is not in the rotation. So, not sure how they're going to approach that as the season trucks on.

Middle Millennial (87). An interesting quirk about folks in our general age group is that our early childhood still revolved around a mostly analog lifestyle. But we were young enough to have an adolescence shaped by the takeover of the digital age.

Sorry but I'm not doing the whole "Wemby is just a little baby, his feelings must be shielded" routine after I just watched a solid 4+ months of people talking about how he's singlehandedly "saving" the league. That 8 foot tall Baguette is just gonna have to take the smoke.

The Venn diagram of "left-ish men who enthusiastically support Platner as a bulwark against a feminine Democratic politics," "left-ish men who stayed on Twitter," and "left-ish men I bailed on a long time ago when they pinged my transphobia radar" is a circle.

the thing thatâs been painfully obvious for years is that unchecked capital accumulation paired with gutting the social safety net and public goods was going to lead to commerce without customers. an economy built on consumption when no one has money to consume.

It's even crazier when you factor-in that many (if not most) of the biggest sports media outlets are literally still running with that narrative even as recently as the start of this season's playoffs.

The Grim's & Stoller's of the left have rather openly longed for a Democratic iteration of Trump for the last 10+ years because they desperately want a vessel that allows them to air all of their reactionary grievances while shielding it under a veneer of progressivism.

Part of the problem is that they donât consider the sentiments these people are expressing as actual intolerance. Vance's claim that people in Appalachia had similar cultural problems as Black people was seen as an enlightened and progressive perspective rather than a denigration of both communities

This mode of white male identity politics often gets conflated with class politics. It happens because signifiers of working-class identity are inherently ambiguous, and underspecified populist discursive categories like "the people" and the "establishment" strategically enable this conflation.

If you are saying âthat is not a principle I care aboutâ, then you are, at least, being honest. But you cannot say âI will elect a person who does not honor this principle, and they will advance this principle.â That does not happen. It cannot happen.

I donât know how to tell people that the only way to win, to truly win, is to have principles and bring people along to rally behind advancing those principles. Electoral politics is no exception to this truth. If you elect someone who does not adhere to, or advance, your principles, you cannot win.

Good example of a headline that is literally just untrue and amounts to malpracticeâ there is no "seeing" settlements in occupied East Jerusalem and the West Bank as illegal, they are factually illegal. UNSCR 2334 and the Advisory Opinion of the International Court of Justice from July 2024 say so.
