For World Bicycle Day: Bicycle advertisements were prolific in the 19th and early 20th century, just as automobile ads are today. Here are a few beautiful ones from the Library of Congress collection.

Zuck just casually sailing his superyacht into town the same week that he laid off 20% of his Seattle-area workforce is pretty brazen. Fuck up nearly 1400 lives and then wave at them like royalty from the deck of his floating Taj Mahal.

There is no better alternative to electrification, so spend the money you'd waste coming up with some Gadgetbahn on actually stringing up catenary. If only we spent every single dollar we wasted on air cushion, PRT, monorail, teslatube, hyperloop, peoplemover and just put wires above existing ROW.

We have an entire part of the book about how chemicals from car tires run into streams, killing coho salmon. If this person wants to protect the environment in Seattle, every person she pushes farther away from the city center and forces to drive makes that goal harder to achieve.

It's really crazy to me what Trump and his enablers are trying to do to vaccines and public health. Child mortality used to be 50%(!). As recently as 1950, 25% of children died globally. Now it’s 4% globally and 0.3% in some rich countries, largely due to better public health and vaccines.
