Democrats could promise every single resentful white working class guy in the country his very own rainbow unicorn & it wouldn't matter because those guys *never hear what Dems say*. They get their information about Dems entirely second had, via sources committed to making them hate Dems.

The hardest lessons Democrats refuse to learn is that they have to create policies that shift the polling, not the other way around.

I've been thinking about this a LOT. I think this is why a lot of well-meaning "hearts and minds" talk around things like Palestine, fascism, abortion, trans rights, etc, feels so hollow. They're individualistic and cannot meet the moment.

Millions of American voters wanted to be villains. They came to believe itās the key to success, while goodness is weak, woke, loser stuff, done only to signal. Offered the option of unvarnished villainy, they enthusiastically took it. Seeing others suffer more made them feel big. And here we are.
